Royal Caribbean International announced the name of the
cruise company’s next Icon Class ship, dubbed Star of the Seas.
Expected to debut during the summer of 2025, the vessel is
currently under construction in Turku, Finland, and will feature a lineup of
new experiences and Royal Caribbean favorites that will be announced in the
coming weeks.
Once completed and delivered, Star of the Seas will become
the cruise line’s third ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), combining
the cleanest-burning marine fuel available to date with a proven lineup of
industry-leading environmental programs on board.
“The idea of combining the best of every type of vacation
into one ultimate adventure has created more excitement than ever anticipated,
and Star of the Seas will be the next bold answer to the record-breaking
consumer demand we’ve seen for nearly a year and counting with Icon of the Seas,”
Royal Caribbean President and CEO Michael Bayley said.
Before Star of the Seas debuts for Royal Caribbean, Icon
of the Seas will arrive on the cruise industry scene with six
record-breaking waterslides, seven pools, the Surfside neighborhood, entertainment
stages and over 40 ways to dine and drink.
Last month, Royal Caribbean unveiled details of Hideaway
Beach, its first adults-only beach destination, which is situated on the
northwest second of Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas – and set to open in
January in conjunction with the debut of Icon of the Seas.
