Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings announced changes to several
of the company’s 2024 itineraries, canceling stops in Israel due to the ongoing
war in the region.
According to Reuters.com,
travel agents were sent a letter by officials from Oceania Cruises, which is
owned by Norwegian, that impacted sailings to Israel would instead make port
stops in cities like Trieste, Italy.
Norwegian isn’t the first cruise company to alter itineraries
in the region due to the ongoing conflict, with Windstar
Cruises canceling its inaugural season in the Middle East.
The cruise line was set to deploy Star Legend from Dubai,
United Arab Emirates, for a series of itineraries set to begin on November 23
and conclude in April 2024.
As a result, the scheduled 10-day Sparkling Sands debut
voyage between Dubai and Muscat, Oman, will be moved to next year, with the new
itinerary setting sail on November 24, 2024.
MSC
Cruises also revealed it would replace the Red Sea itineraries on MSC
Orchestra this winter with a new Mediterranean itinerary, sailing from December
16, 2023, to April 19, 2024, to avoid the conflict in Israel and Gaza.
In addition, MSC announced changes to several ships’
itineraries, including the MSC Armonia, MSC Opera, MSC Splendida, MSC Virtuosa
and the MSC Sinfonia, which had its winter program canceled as its main draw
was Haifa, Israel.
