The national airline of Fiji, Fiji Airways, has partnered with Jetblue, allowing travelers to purchase fares for both airlines on one ticket.
The new partnership also allows travelers to seamlessly go from one airline to another at the airport, a process called through-check, without having to re-recheck themselves or their baggage between flights.
Fiji Airways will now be able to connect its service to the East Coast, Florida, Utah and Puerto Rico through JetBlue’s connections. Fiji Airways currently flies each day between Nadi and Los Angeles, and up to five times weekly between Nadi and San Francisco.
"Americans who have been yearning for a holiday in Fiji will now find it much easier to connect onto our flights out of Los Angeles and San Francisco,” said Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Andre Viljoen. “
Research tells us that many Americans have a misconception that Fiji is too far away, and difficult to get to,” continued Viljoen. “With this partnership, Fiji Airways has made it even more convenient to reach our Fijian paradise. We have been exploring innovative means to grow our footprint in the United States, and I am delighted that JetBlue has come onboard as an interline partner."
The new partnership with Fiji Airways also helps JetBlue's international expansion, which it has been working on since this summer. More recently, it opened new flights between Belize City and JFK, but it's been expanding its connectivity from Europe to the Caribbean and beyond.
